Saturday 25 April, 2020. Central Hall, Grimsby.
Conductor Susan Hollingworth, accompanied by The Barry Whitfield Quartet and joined by local school choirs and percussionists.
Zimbe! is an uplifting celebration of African music, written for a four part choir, children's choir and a jazz quartet. We will include children from local school choirs and local musician Barry Whitfield provides the jazz quartet. The composer Alexander L'Estrange combines traditional African songs with infectious accompaniments to take us on a whirlwind tour of life in an African village.
We will also sing Banaha, a traditional Congolese folk song, and songs from Missa Luba, a mass in Congolese style arranged by Guido Haazen.
This will be a very special occasion as it is our last concert with our chorus master Sue. It is also something completely different, choral music but not as we know it.
Tickets are likely to sell quickly as the parents of the children will also be in the queue - book yours early!
